Choose from 3 different compression ratio options to suit your specific needs. All our Coyote shortblocks are assembled by the same technicians that build our race winning engines. We take the same level of detail and care when assembling each shortblock from the lowest to highest compression. Each shortblock package has parts picked out to work the best in each given application. Check out the parts lists. and accompanying machinework for each of the options below to help you choose which shortblock will fit your needs the best!
Compression Ratio Options:
11:1 Compression (runs on pump gas, retains full VCT range with our performance cams)
12:1 Compression (good for pump gas with performance cams, may require VCT limiters)
13:1 Compression (requires good pump E85 or racegas with performance cams, requires VCT limiters or locked out VCT)
14:1 Compression (requires race E85, racegas, or methanol, requires locked out VCT)
15:1 Compression (requires high-end racegas or methanol & only available on 336" or bigger displacements, requires locked out VCT)
Sleeve / Bore Size Options:
No sleeves (3.650" bore and only available with stock stroke BOSS crankshaft)
HD Sleeves (Available in 3.700" and 3.740" finished bore sizes)
Stroke Options:
3.650" = Forged BOSS crankshaft w/ Std. Journal 5.933" H-beam rods
3.840"= Forged crankshaft w/ 1.889" journal H-beam rods
3.900" = Forged crankshaft w/ 2" journal H-beam rods
3.940" = Forged crankshaft w/ 1.889" journal H-beam rods
Oilpump Options:
No pump = you'll supply a pump
Billet Oil Pump = New OEM oil pump installed with billet oilpump gear upgrade
Billet Oil Pump & Crank Gears = New OEM pump installed with billet oilpump gear upgrade & billet crank timing gear
-------------------------------------------
As with all our shortblocks, and complete engines, we start with a thorough block inspection looking for imperfections, and measuring critical dimensions before completing the following modifications:
Tap front and rear oil galleys for -6AN & -10AN O-ring plugs (replacing the OEM push-in freeze plugs)
Surface Block deck square to crank centerline
Install new main fasteners
Align hone main tunnel to size as needed
Install head studs for torque plate (stud kit hardware available separately)
Torque Plate Hone cylinders to the correct surface finish & clearance for our high compression forged pistons
Deburr all interior and exterior surfaces
Preliminary wash to remove machining chemicals & chips (not to replace final wash before assembly)
Measure all critical dimensions as Quality Control (bore, deck height, main housing bore dia., & cylinder surface finish)
Debur and hand finish piston tops for reduced hot spots that lead to detonation
Balance rotating assembly
Final wash all components for final assembly
Measure & set bearing clearances
Install crankshaft in block
File-fit Total Seal Rings to set ring end gaps for each individual cylinder
Install pistons on rods, rings on pistons, and rod/piston/ring assemblies into block
Torque all rod bolts to the specified bolt stretch
Measure piston to deck clearance
Additional parts included:
Includes new Head Dowels
Includes new Bellhousing Dowels
Includes new piston squirters on stock stroke shortblocks, and piston squirter block-offs on 3.840", 3.900", and 3.940" stroke shortblocks.
Includes new o-ringed and threaded -6AN front & -10AN rear oil galley plugs
Please note, all Coyote shortlbocks are built to order which takes 4-6 weeks from the date of the order.
