Mahle Clevite "P" series main bearings feature tri-metal construction. The soft outer layer allows contaminants in the oil to embed into the bearing minimizing journal wear compared to the aluminum bearings used in late model engines.
Available in 3 sizes to fit Standard size journals, .010"(.25mm) undersize journals, or .020"(.50mm) undersize journals.
We also offer these main bearings with a dry-film coating that offers reduced friction and abrasive wear. The coated bearing shells are .0004" thicker (per shell) than the un-coated bearings so it can also be used to reduce bearing clearance which increases oil pressure.
There are two main bearing housing bores used in the Ford "Lima" engine family over the 27 years they were in production. From 1974 through 1989 the 2.5905" housing bore size was used. In Ranger engines during 1989, and all engines from 1990 through 2001 Ford used main bearings with a 2.3975" housing bore.
