We offer 2 different types of cam bearings for the Ford 2300 SOHC based engines. 1 style has a standard outside diameter with a groove around the O.D., and the other style has a .020" oversize outside diameter without a groove. The grooved O.D. allows for relocating the oil hole to the 10 o-clock position to improve oil feed and minimize bearing wear. The .020" oversize bearings are generally used for repairing cylinderheads that are warped or that have had straps welded on the towers.
*** To use grooved O.D. bearings you will need to drill & tap the holes at the top of each tower for a 1/16" npt plug so that the oil pressure can't escape from the groove. Failure to do this will result in failure of the bearings or worse! ***
