Build Quality:
Our shortblocks are assembled by the same technicians that build our race and championship winning engines. Each shortblock is built in an OEM Ford block that has been thoroughly inspected, magnafluxed, de-rusted, cleaned, and fully machined to our exacting specifications in our shop. All cylinder honing is performed using our diamond tooling while a custom made torqueplate is torqued to 90ft.lbs using ARP headstuds. The main bearing housings are alignhoned with ARP mainstuds torqued to 90ft.lbs. to verify everything is straight and perfectly sized. The block is machined to a 8.355" deck height to get the pistons to zero deck* at TDC for maximum legal performance. Our technicians install new brass freeze plugs new front & rear oil galley plugs, and paint the block before assembling the rotating assembly. Bearing clearances are individually checked and adjusted to fit within our exacting tolerances as are the piston to cylinder, and ring gaps. Rod bolts are tightened to match ARP's recommended stretch range, not just "torqued" in place. Each block also has a set of our machined intermediate shaft bearings installed to increase distributor gear life.
* Piston to deck clearance is set at .000" +/- .005" . If your class rules say that the piston can not stick up past the deck of the block you will need to let us know so that we can make sure that the pistons do not stick up!
