This is a crank damper, NOT just a 1pc crank pulley. These dampers are designed to reduce or eliminate TORSIONAL vibration within the engine. A simple description of "torsional vibration" is the twisting of the crankshaft due to reciprocating (rods, pistons, and combustion) loads being applied in multiple locations along the length of the crankshaft in order to get the crankshaft to spin. This torsional vibration is measured as the front of the crankshaft rotating vs the rear of the crankshaft. While our 1pc crank pulleys offer much lighter weight and some even offer a reduction of accessory rpm, they do not dampen the torsional vibrations.
The serpentine pulley built into this damper is only ~ 1mm smaller diameter so the accessories are driven at basically the same rpm as with the stock Ford 1pc serpentine crank pulley.
To use the degree marks laser etched into the O.D. of the damper you will need to purchase our matching timing pointer or make one yourself.
*** These dampers are designed to press onto the crank snout. They should be installed with .0005" of press on the crankshaft. OEM and aftermarket 1pc crank pulleys are a slip fit on the crankshaft. Installation of a damper will require a damper installation tool, do not use the crank bolt to pull the pulley onto the crank! A damper removal tool will also be required to remove the damper from the crankshaft due to the press fit on the crank snout. Do not use a "puller" tool that grabs on the O.D. of this damper. To remove the damper from the crank, remove the three 12pt bolts and pull the damper off using these 3 holes. ***
